Sally Hansen Big Money

I've recently found that many drug stores are having great sales on makeup and nail polishes, like 50% to 75% off.  I was looking with my mom when I came across a display for Sally Hansen's new Gem Crush nail polish line with fun, sparkly colors.  I'm a big fan of Sally Hansen nail polish, specifically their Insta-Dry and Xtreme Wear lines, as they're high quality polishes that stay on for a long time.  From the Gem Crush collection, one color that really caught my eye was Big Money, a gold glitter polish with hints of pink sparkle.  I haven't seen a color like this and really enjoy how unique it is.

What's your favorite Gem Crush color?

J. Crew - Get 30% Off Sale Items!

Wonderful news! J. Crew is giving us an additional 30% off all final sale items with code WINTER! I'm a big fan of J. Crew and it's preppy/clean-cut style. There are so many great pieces to choose from out of the sale section. Here are a few of my favorites:

Featured Items (from left to right, top to bottom)
All prices include the extra 30% discount.

Hacking Jacket in Herringbone: I absolutely love the "vibrant flame" color of this tailored jacket.  This is an easy way for you to add a punch of color to a workplace-friendly outfit.  Originally $198.00, now $103.60.

Metallic Skinny Belt: I'm a fan of anything that sparkles or shines, and this belt is a subtle way to add that shimmer to your outfit.  Originally $39.50, now $13.99.

Downtown Skinny Jean in Clear Sky Wash: As long as they don't cut off circulation to any part of my body, I love wearing a good skinny jean inside of a simple boot.  The Downtown Skinny Jean is slightly slouchy at the hips, which I think will make them a really comfortable pair of jeans.  Originally $108.00, now $34.99.

Perfect-Fit Mixed-Tape Cardigan: Cardigans are a great way to stay warm while keeping your put-together and preppy vibe.  J. Crew's Perfect-Fit Cardigan seems like a comfortable cotton cardigan for the transition into spring.  Originally $49.50, now $20.99.

Hacking Jacket in Double-Serge Wool: Maybe you like the idea of incorporating color into your look but aren't ready for an eye-popping orange or red (yet).  J. Crew's Hacking Jacket is available in a "cool pine" that can add color to your look without confusing traffic.

Plaza Coat: Sometimes there's nothing more stylish than a fitted long coat.  Since we're in the middle of winter, the Plaza Coat appears to be a great option for staying warm while looking good.  This coat is available in black, saddle (tan), heather dusk (light gray), henna (deep red), cobalt, and radio red.  Originally $298.00, now $139.99.

Perfect Shirt in Solid: I really enjoy wearing a good button-down shirt for days I really want to look put-together.  With J. Crew's Perfect Shirt, you can look clean-cut while still being stylish with pops of color.  This button-down is available in hydrangea (light blue), warm jade, fiesta purple, and modern red.  Originally $78.00, now $34.99.

Minnetonka Deerskin Moccassins: I absolutely love moccasins!  They're so comfortable and can help bring your outfit to the next level.  It's also very rare to find a pair of moccasins from a high-quality brand like Minnetonka at such a discounted price.  Originally $78.00, now $41.99.

Tinsel Lace Dress: If you're interested in a strapless dress with a modest length, J. Crew's Tinsel Lace Dress can give you the head-turning look you're looking for.  Made of black lace interlaced with metallic threads with boning at the sides for support, this dress is simply stunning.  Originally $188.00, now $34.99.

Turn a large shirt into a tank top

If you're in college, you know what it's like to have a drawer full of freebie t-shirts that aren't your size.  Only so many of us are lucky enough to grab that coveted small.  What's a girl to do with a possibly cute shirt that doesn't fit?  Tailor it!  Here's an easy way to turn your too-large promotional t-shirt into a fun and well-fitting tank top.

1. Find a tank top that fits you well and use it as an outline.  This will be your guide for altering your t-shirt.  I'm using a comfortable one I got from Forever 21.  Place the tank top over the t-shirt to make sure none of the design is cut off past the tank top.

2. Turn your t-shirt inside out and pin the tank top on top.  Now you have your tank top stencil ready for sewing!

3. Either by hand-sewing or using a sewing machine, sew your shirt along the outline of the tank top.  Give yourself an extra inch (at least) to ensure a proper fit, especially if you're using a stretchy tank top as your guide.

4. Cut off the excess fabric. Cut where your arm-holes should be (or use a seam-ripper) and stitch them if you'd like.  Remove your pins and your tank-top guide.

5. Turn your new tank top right side out and try it on.  Cut the front of the neck to fit you comfortably and sew the edges if you'd like.  You now have a new tank top!

BCBG Max Azria - Get 60% Off!

BCBG is currently having a promotion for their Max Azria line featuring 60% off many stylish items.  I absolutely love some of BCBG Max Azria's items and really enjoy browsing their store from time to time.  Here is my selections of some fun items to consider while taking advantage of this great sale.

Ponte Chain Dress - I am a huge fan of the little black dress and I love how the Ponte Chain Dress adds something unique with it's chain detail down the sides.  If you want an edgy look but prefer not to show too much skin, this dress can give you the right balance with its long sleeves. ($139.20 from $348.00)

Iguana-Effect Beveled Skinny Double-Wrap Belt - One of my unofficial New Year's resolutions is to wear belts with more outfits.  I recently posted on my Twitter account about a brown leather belt I found at the Gap with a classic bow on the front.  I really like the look of thin double-wrap belts and I think the iguana-effect leather on this Max Azria belt is rather interesting and can add something special to your outfit. ($79.20 from $198.00)

Faux-Shearling Cover - I love the idea of wearing this fur cover over a simple solid color top.  Match it to your pants or boots or let it be the stand-alone piece to an otherwise monotone outfit.  The brown faux-shearling cover is $35.20 from $88.00 while the black version is $63.20 from $158.00.  I might see a future DIY for this accessory, what do you think?

Zoya is letting its customers try two free nail polishes to help start off the new year!  I actually tried Zoya's Lolly Mod Matte polish today and was impressed by the quality and wearability.  Here's how you can take advantage of this offer.  Be quick though, it ends on January 9th!
